Application Timeline

If you are interested in applying for the Peace Corps, my best piece advice is to start NOW and be patient.

From Final Application to Staging: 435 days

12/31/12- Begin My Application

4/13/13- Application Submitted (It doesn't take 4 months to finish it. I was just slow.)

5/13- Final Recommendations and Transcripts Submitted

5/14- Cleared for Interview

6/12 - Formal Interview with Regional Recruiter

7/10- Received Nomination for Education Sector

7/30- Finished Fingerprinting and National Agency Check

8/20- Legal Clearance

12/4- Placement Questionnaire Received for English Teaching; Asked to rewrite Motivation Statement and Cross Cultural Essay from original application in April (I am still confused how it took the PC 8 months to take a good look at those awful essays [If it is any defense, I was reading Faulkner at the time])

12/14- Essays and Questionnaire Submitted

1/29/14- Invited to Benin for TEFL!

2/10- Aspiration Statement and Final Transcripts Submitted

2/11- Visa and Passport Forms Submitted

3/1-4/1 Physicals, Eye Exams, Immunizations, Dental Exams

4/4- Final Medical Clearance

4/8- Hit by car while biking to work

4/12- Application put on Medical Hold

4/21- Medical Hold Lifted

6/22- Staging

6/24- In Benin!
